Financial education: Flower coins

By Becky Harris Realise Wealth Management

With the summer holidays underway, Becky Harris, former primary school teacher and now Realise Wealth Management’s Operations Manager, has created Flower Coins, a playful, hands‑on activity for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children to continue learning about money whilst school is out.

Designed to build early financial confidence, Flower Coins helps children explore coins, their shapes, and their values through simple tasks that families can enjoy together at home, on holiday, or anywhere they can grab a calm 30‑minutes.

You’ll see that the activity is divided into three stages: Explore, Create & Extend. KS1 children can enjoy each stage, though the level of challenge increases as you move through the activity. Younger children may spend most of their time exploring, while older learners may prefer the problem‑solving and reasoning in the Extend section.

You can view, download and print the worksheet below. We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback in the comments, as this is the first of many free resources we’ll be publishing throughout the summer holidays and beyond.
